Public Safety Academy

NEW camp for June 2023!

This new Public Safety Academy will immerse students in law enforcement, EMS, and firefighting careers in this a one-of-a-kind camp experience! Join local police and emergency responders, U.S. Customs & Border Patrol agents, K-9 handlers, and U.S. Coast Guard staff – even learn to SCUBA dive. The three-day camp culminates in a real-life search-and-rescue operation on land and water!

For current 8th-11th graders (current school year, 2022-23)

About the Public Safety Academy:

  • Students will join dive teams on their vessels to see demonstration of marine search and rescue.
  • Students will have the opportunity to SCUBA dive in a pool and participate in some challenges.
  • Students will visit the Eppler Road EMS building in Petoskey and participate in simulator activities with state/local law enforcement, EMS, fire, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Customs & Border Patrol. 
  • On the final day, students will be paired with a public safety official and join them in a real life search and rescue training exercise utilizing K-9, drones, a command center, state police, border patrol, fire department, and other emergency responders.
